Tutoring Program (MUSTg)
This program is made possible by students tutoring students, and was started in 2005. Students who have completed a unit(s) with a minimum Distinction are eligible to tutor other students who are currently struggling with the same unit.
The benefits of using a recent graduate, or current student as your tutor, is that the tutor will be fresh with the concepts and notions of the unit. The tutor will also be familiar with the direction sought by the co-ordinators of the unit. They will be able to help steer you to the right path.
.We recommend that tuition occur on campus, for example in the Library or Walters. In the end it is arranged between yourself and the tutor.
Tutors can be paid by the student, but the hourly fee is capped at $20. The transaction is between the student and the tutor. Or if the tutor is happy to tutor for free then the tutor upon 40 hours of tuition will receive acknowledgment on their Developmental Transcript, which has been ratified by the University's Academic Council.
Your Developmental Transcript is very important, just like your Academic Transcript. Developmental Transcripts are very relevant to many organisations, NGOs, NFPs, NPs, and government which use them to vett for the right person.
When emailing SWB with your expression of interest for a tutor, please state the unit title and the unit code, and Vicky will email you back with a tutor's email address and other contacts if available. That is if a tutor is available in that specific unit. It is up to you to then email the prospective tutor and arrange a time and venue.
Upon completion of your tuition we would appreciate some feedback on the tuition and the tutor for the sake of future reference.
For more information, to become a tutor or the find a tutor please contact the Students without Borders Coordinator Vicky by email at swb@guild.murdoch.edu.au .
